Rein questions

Should I choose reins with or without stoppers?

Our hybrid reins have hand-stitched leather stoppers every 5cm, which help you keep an even contact and shorten your reins accurately. Reins without stoppers give you one continuous grip along the hand section. The V-Grip, Xtreme Eventer and BioThane Bio Grip come both ways.

Which width and thickness is right for me?

Thinner reins, like the BioThane Bio Grip (16mm × 5mm) and Calfskin Supergrip (18mm × 5mm), are neat and flexible, which suits dressage, flatwork and showing. Wider, thicker reins, like the Bio Grip Hybrid (20mm × 8mm), fill the hand and suit everyday riding and jumping. If you have smaller hands, a thinner rein is usually more comfortable.

What size reins do I need?

Pony 50", Cob 54", Full 56" and Extra Full 60". Measure your current reins to compare, or ask us if you are between sizes.

Which reins are best if I ride in gloves?

The Small Pimple Hybrid has a very grippy, slightly coarser feel that works well with gloves. The V-Grip has small, rounded pimples that are comfortable with or without gloves.

How do the reins fasten?

All our reins have billet fastenings, martingale stoppers and a nylon inner, with English Sedgwick leather ends.
