    Choosing bridle parts

    Headpieces. Every Henry James headpiece is cut back and padded to relieve pressure around the poll and ears. The Comfort 3D Air has a central air gap and padding at the base of the ears, and the Comfort 4D Air has extended padding to protect the TMJ. The Flexure Curve and Half Moon offer different cut-back shapes, and the Arc Classic suits finer horses and ponies, or horses without much room over the poll. It is the only headpiece we make in Pony and also comes in Cob to Extra Full, and we find the majority of horses fit it very well. For double bridles, choose the Comfort 4D Air Double.

    Nosebands. Choose a flash or comfort flash for everyday riding, a figure 8 grackle to help stop jaw crossing, or our anatomical dressage crank noseband, shaped to avoid the cheekbones. Every flash noseband has a fully removable flash, and each is also available with a traditional sewn-in fixed flash.

    Browbands and cheekpieces. Browbands come straight, curved or U-shaped, so it really comes down to your preference. Our Swarovski crystal browbands are handmade to order, with around 40 crystals individually set by hand. Cheekpieces fasten with a billet for a neat, flat finish, a buckle, or clips for quick bit changes.
